IECQ ESD
Static electricity is the arch-enemy of electronic components such as semiconductors! It is hidden in various links such as production, processing, assembly, installation, packaging, testing, inspection, and transportation, but its damage to components is difficult to be controlled and identified.
The electrostatic protection management process established using IECQ ESD can directly reflect the technical level and product quality control level of electronic product manufacturing enterprises, thus ensuring the correct handling of unprotected electrostatic sensitive devices (ESDS).
When moisture-sensitive devices are exposed to high temperature environments during reflow soldering, the vapor pressure inside non-sealed packaged devices will significantly increase, causing internal delamination or internal/external cracks in the packaging material, resulting in device damage.
With the increase of environmental moisture, the ESD risk decreases while the MSD risk increases. Through MSD graded management and lifespan management, damages to components during reflow soldering caused by moisture absorption can be effectively avoided, thereby reducing the product defect rate and improving product reliability.
(1) Reduce or eliminate the risk of electrostatic damage to products
(2) Strengthen the graded management, storage use of moisture sensitive devices
(3) demonstrate to the customer the ability and level of the organization’s system to protect against electrostatic damage
(4) Improve product first pass field, reduce repair rate and costs
(5) One certificate covers two ESD standards (IEC 61340-5-1&ANSI/ESD S20.20) and MSD standard
Any enterprise engaged in the design, production/assembly, inspection, maintenance, warehousing and other management processes of semiconductors, chips, electronic components, printed circuit boards (PCBA) and electronic whole machine products.
ESD management manual, control plan, control program, management regulations, management specifications, operation instructions, etc.
There are no requirements for the document format. However, at least the following eight requirements shall be met, or else the document review for stage 1 will fail: ① training, ② product approval, ③ conformity verification, ④ grounding system, ⑤ personnel grounding, ⑥ EPA, ⑦ packaging, ⑧ marks, etc.
Internationally, ESD certificate falls into two types: certificates accredited by IECQ ESD and ESDA respectively.
IECQ: The certification certificate is valid for three years, with the first year being the initial audit, the second/third year being surveillance, and re-certification shall be done before the certificate expires;
ESDA: The certification certificate is valid for one year, with the first year being the initial audit and re-certification shall be done in the subsequent years (if the certificate expires, only the initial audit can be reapplied for).
In order to validate the effectiveness of the ESD system, in principle, ESD surveillance or re- certification audits should be completed within 12 months of the last audit; If there are special circumstances (re-certification is not applicable), a delay of up to 3 months may be considered at the discretion, but it cannot cross the year.
In principle, it is not allowed. But it depends on the IECQ or ESDA certification rules and risk assessment to determine whether remote audit is appropriate.
Yes. The ESD technical services provided by CPEREI include:
① On-site diagnosis and gap analysis;
② System and standard training;
③ System document review;
④ Preliminary review and confirmation of correction effects.
CEPREI Certification Body is the only domestic certification body in China that conducts IECQ ESD certification and has issued the largest number of IECQ ESD certification certificates among global certification bodies. It can conduct ESDA and IECQ certifications at the same time. With more than ten years of technological accumulation and industry accumulation, CEPREI's customers cover many famous and well-known enterprises both domestically and internationally.
